Excerpt from this month’s Prayer Calendar.
Hunger is still the great scandal of our age, and many families in Mandaluyong in the Philippines have very little to eat each day. High population growth, social and political unrest and natural disasters have played havoc with the economy in the country for many years, causing widespread poverty and unemployment. This affects the lives of thousands of children, many of whom suffer from malnutrition. The Hands of Mercy staff are now feeding the malnourished children again at the HOM Centres instead of taking the food to the squatter homes. The feedings take place from Wednesday to Saturday. Please pray that through the regular feedings the health of the children will improve, and that people will give financially through the Supplementary Feeding Programme to help buy food for the malnourished children.
